The Ministry of Defence of Brunei announced the conclusion of the company "Sikorsky International opereyshnz 'contract under the program to support the purchase of helicopters for the armed forces of Brunei.
The program provides for the delivery of 12 multi-role helicopters, S-70i Black Hawk International," which will replace the armament "Bell 212" and the Bo-105.The cost of purchase programs are not reported.
The delivery of helicopters S-70i Black Hawks International" enhance the ability of Air Force airlift of Brunei, will be standardized fleet of transport helicopters, as well as provide an opportunity to timely delivery of units to the location of military and humanitarian operations as part of national and international commitments of Brunei.
In February 2011 the Center for Science, Technology, Research and Development Ministry of Defense of Brunei (CSTRAD) sent four leading manufacturers of helicopters, an invitation to submit proposals for delivery of new helicopters and meet the requirements of Air Force.
In July 2011 Ministry of Defence of Brunei has chosen a finalist of "Sikorsky International opereyshnz" and "Eurocopter". After evaluation of the final proposals winner was selected an American company.
As expected, ordered the helicopters will be delivered in Brunei between 2013 and 2015.
