"Embraer" start flight tests of the first AWACS aircraft EMB-145, for the transfer of the Indian Air Force

The company "Embraer" announced the beginning of flight testing of the first of three aircraft ordered EMB-145, which will be used as a platform for a system of Airborne Warning and Control Force India.The first flight, which opened the flight test program, held on December 6 at the San Jose company to Campos. Delivery of the first aircraft the Indian Air Force is scheduled for early 2012.


In July 2008, India signed the MoD with "Embraer" a contract worth 210 million dollars for the supply of three jet aircraft EMB-145 for creation on their basis of three AWACS aircraft systems.


Aircraft will be used for detection and identification of different air threats to long-range detection of radio sources, as well as a host command and control air operations.


The contract Brazilian company modifies aircraft EMB-145, which will enable him to carry on the fuselage radar with active phased array antenna. The agreement also includes a package of logistical support, personnel training, spare parts and ground equipment. The company "Embraer" aircraft should pass to the customer after 36, 42 and 45 months after signing the contract.


The plane is a version of the regional jet airliner ERJ-145. It is equipped with refueling in the air, satellite communications SATCOM, differs substantially improved apparatus for cooling and power generation, reinforced structural elements. Past improvements will be installed on board a modern electronic systems that are currently being developed by the Center for Aviation Systems CABS (Centre or Airborne Systems), a division of the Defence Research and Development Ministry of Defense of India (DRDO).


Take-off weight of aircraft - 24 tons maximum settlement amount to 12 people, autonomy - 10-12 hours with refueling in the air.
