Sagem to Modernize Chang Bogo-class KSS-1 Submarines

The company "Sagem" (a division of "Safran") today announced a contract to modernize the Navy submarines of the Republic of Korea. 

Navy leadership the Republic of Korea has decided to equip the class diesel-electric submarines, "Chang Bogo", built in the framework of KSS-1, upgraded inertial navigation system company "Sagem". 


The first submarine will be equipped with two inertial navigation units "Sigma 40XP". After completion of its facilities and conduct acceptance testing the same type of equipment will be another five submarines of the series.

"Sigma 40XP" (eXtended Performance) - this is an improved version of the "Sigma 40", designed for surface ships and fixed platforms at 600. In France, the system "Sigma 40XP" chosen to modernize and equip future SSBN submarine "Barracuda."
