Boxer for Germany

The European agency OCCAR solemnly handed the German armies by land hundredth Boxer armored vehicle from the series. Nearly 2.5 years after the start of the first delivery.


Agency report on the event with considerable delay. Transmission of the vehicle was held for 20 January. The representatives of OCCAR agreed that delivery, executed by the company ARTEC (a joint-venture Krauss-Maffei Wegmann, Rheinmetall and the Dutch Stork PWV) are characterized by a slower pace than previously assumed, but it was considered sufficient. Note that the first serial car passed on September 23, 2009.

Transferred from one hundred vehicles have already hit 25 to Afghanistan, picking up crew members positive feedback. 5 cars has already led combat operations. By the end of February will join them to the other transporters, including the commanding model version.

According to the reported plans, the Bundeswehr should receive during the current year an additional 75 Boxerów. At the end of 2012 the first five production vehicles will also reach Dutch army, the other participant. Originally it was assumed that these supplies will be realized even in 2011. It did not happen because of the priority acquired by the Germans involved in Afghanistan (the Dutch withdrew in 2010), and by budgetary problems.
