New MSBS-5, 56

Third August at a seminar held at the Military University of Technology presents a new look carabiners included in the Modular System Small Arms 5.56 mm (MSBS-5, 56).


Firing technology demonstrators and their mechanisms are still being worked out at the Military Academy of Technology and Radom arms factory, but in the meantime, the WAT was fine tune the component dealing with ergonomics and functionality of this design. It is kind of a novelty when creating weapons in Poland, for the first time artists from the Academy decided to cooperate with an external group of designers. 

A group of four, working in close collaboration with engineers from the Military, is directed by Adam Gawron, it consists also Misiolek Grzegorz Bartosz Stefaniak and Maciej Sajdak. The result of team work is different from the existing modular weapons, as well as new models of rifles in the classical system and the butt, as it seems close to the target structure.

MSBS-5, 56, still relies on a common chamber of the castle, which is a basic module, but it has been redesigned. Changed its shape, moved the tensioner, the trick is to be stationary during firing, thus eliminating the unnecessary edges. The basic unit shall be accompanied by a different chamber and trigger, in the classical variant - bed and the butt, and in bezkolbowej - footer stock, double (with a hole that allows access to the two-position gas regulator allows the normal shooting and silencer), an overlay on the back of the bus performs role of the buccal pad.

It is worth noting that the use of universal castle chambers for different structural systems of weapons to reduce production costs, facilitate logistics and allow for easy customization of weapons to the task. What's more, it's a huge differentiator Polish weapons, its unique feature, that uniquely identifies a system of shooting the global market.

Has improved the functionality and ergonomics of the rifles, it is less noticeable in the case of the classic version is very much in bezkolbowcu. In the first case was abandoned two latch release lever suwadło from the rear position, issuing directly from the M16, by replacing the double flap lever integrated into the trigger bow. Deducted from the magazine latch buttons on both sides, much better wkomponowując them in the wall of the chamber drain. Switch the type of fire continued to be well-positioned, but his jump is much smaller. Introduced a new, folded on the right side of the flask with adjustable feet, equipped with buccal pad.

In bezkolbowcu undergone major changes - primarily appeared to be similar to a variety of classical, large buttons on both sides magazine lever, located within finger on the trigger. Distance decreased grip and magazine slot, allowing to shorten the distance from the shoulder to the finger on the trigger. On the left side of the chamber behind the trigger appeared extra magazine clip, and on the back of the magazine slot locking latch plate on the back of a moving band after firing the last bullet.

Mock-ups were presented with barrels lengths 255 and 406 mm, which is in the form of subkarabinka and basic rifle. For now, the rapid prototyping machine are formed of plastic models, but we are working on locating the existing mechanisms in the new chamber of the castle.

The rifle was introduced classic double flap lever zwalaniającą suwadło from the rear position, integrated into the trigger bow. Also introduced a new, hinged on the right side of the flask with adjustable feet, equipped with a pillow buccal.

Also decided to start work on the new grenade launcher jednostrzałowym suspended 40 mm caliber, dedicated to the MSBS-5, 56, in place of the trial to connect the power to hook GPBO-40 model. The seminar presented the first model of the new structure, which - admittedly - looks extremely futuristic. While developers are going to rely on the experience of SBAO-40 grenade launcher, however, will be designed from scratch and will be characterized by the barrel swivel to the charge, but only in one direction, as well as the language of the trigger and grip of a different shape shifted considerably to the front, which is facilitate carrying and shooting.

A weapon that will go to the Polish Army will be sets with additional equipment, for now in the process of selecting and matching accessories for the construction shown in the photographs should be regarded as provisional, but illustrating the directions in which they go searching.
