Polish Purchase F-16s

Agency for Defense Security and Cooperation (DSCA) notified Congress of the U.S. DoD on the planned sale of Polish equipment, accessories, weapons and fighters of services for F-16C / D "Fighting Falcon." Full cost of the agreement, which will be implemented under the "Foreign military sales," may amount to 447 million dollars.

The Polish government has asked the United States asking about the possibility of sale of 93 missiles of short-range AIM-9X-2 "Sidewinder", "block 2" class "air-to-air", 4 training aircraft missiles reusable CATM-9X-2, 65 improved managed Intermediate-range "air-air» AIM-120C-7 AMRAAM, 42 units. 500-pound guided bombs GBU-49 "Enhansd Peyvuey-2", 200 units. 2000-pound bombs guided GBU-54 JDAM kit with laser-guided, 642 units. AB 500-pound BLU-111, and 127 units. 

AB 500-pound MK-82, 80 units. AB 2000-pound BLU-117, 4 inert (inert) AB 2000-pound MK-84, the inner contour of 9 modules (Engine Core Modules) engine F-100-PW-229, 28 night vision devices, 12 containers P5 battery management system aircraft in a dogfight (AACMI), a unified system of planning tasks (Joint Mission Planning System).


In addition, the request provides for a period of five years of service for maintenance and support of the F-16 Polish Air Force, supply support, test and training equipment, spare parts and components, technical documentation, repair and modernization of systems, staff training, technical support the U.S. government and contractor, and other related elements of logistic support.

Poland is an important U.S. ally in Europe, taking part in peacekeeping operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. Thus, the U.S. is interested in providing this country with the support and development of its armed forces.


As the DSCA, this sale will increase the possibility of Poland to counter existing and future threats, the interaction with the Sun of other NATO countries. As in the Polish Air Force already has the requested missiles and equipment, adopting new systems will not be difficult.


The principal contractor under the contract will be of "Raytheon", "Boeing" and "United Technology Corporation."
