Australian Soldiers in Africa

 

Issued by the Sydney Morning Herald , Australian soldiers lead the formation of special missions in the African intelligence against Islamist organizations.

 

Newspaper, citing unofficial sources from the circle of the Department of Defense announces that the soldiers carried out a special formations and carried out dozens of intelligence operations in Africa, mainly in Zimbabwe, Kenya and Nigeria. Their aim is to identify and collect data about the extreme Islamist groupings, particularly the organization of al-Shabab, which runs from the area of Somalia and was regarded as a terrorist. These activities are also to determine the tactics of the proceedings in the case of kidnapping citizens of Australia, for example by Somali pirates. The action carried out jointly with the U.S. and  other allies of Australia . 
According to the newspaper operation lead soldiers fourth SASR company, whose existence was never officially confirmed. The problem, according to the authors, lies in the fact that only members of the interview (ASIS), may use false documents and not to disclose - in cases of arrest - that the work commissioned by the Australian Government. They also have the full support of the authorities.

 

In response, the defense minister, Stephen Smith confirmed that the soldiers carry out intelligence operations, but did not give any details. He stated, however, that operate in accordance with international law, with the consent of local authorities and have the full support and security for the Australian Government.
