Indonesia and Brazil joints EMB-314 "Super Tucano"

 

Indonesia and Brazil to discuss the possibility of joint production and sales in the Asia-Pacific region, combat-capable aircraft EMB-314 "Super Tucano."


According to "Jane's Defence Industry", with reference to the Indonesian Ministry of Defence Production is planned to create in the program purchase Indonesian Air Force 16 aircraft EMB-314. The first four UBS will transfer to the Indonesian Air Force by the end of March. They will be stationed at the airbase, "Abdul Saleh" in Malang (East Java province).

 

As a result of the meeting held on March 15 representatives of the Ministry of Defense of Indonesia and Brazil, it was stated that the two governments plan to expand cooperation in the defense industry, space, aviation and marine applications. Bilateral industrial cooperation program should be completed by the end of 2012.

 

Ministry of Defense of Indonesia, for its part, announced its intention as to promote cooperation between national company "PT Dirgantara Indonesia" (PTDI) and "Embraer". The immediate goal of collaboration is the opportunity to not only self-service aircraft EMB-314, but their further modernization. In the future, "PT Dirgantara Indonesia" can become a distributor of aircraft "Super Tucano" in the Asia Pacific region.

 

The proposal to expand the participation of Indonesia "PT Dirgantara Indonesia" in the "Super Tucano" made in the context of the government's intentions in the next decade to modernize the country's defense industry to reduce dependence on foreign suppliers and reduce the cost of imports.
