Sharing Destroyer Hobart

Australian Ministry of Defence described the division of labor in the construction of third anti-type destroyer Hobart . Accounted for the majority of domestic shipyards.

Artistic vision for Hobart. Ship with a displacement of about 6200 t and 147 m in length shall be equipped with the Aegis system. Armament will consist of 48 vertical launchers for the missiles przeciwbalistycznych MK41 / anti-SM-2, SM-6 and ESSM, 8 missiles przeciwokrętowych RGM-84 Harpoon, 2 torpedo launchers, marine works caliber 127 mm and a set of direct defense Phalanx Block 1B / Drawing Air Warfare Destroyer Alliance.

Australians build three destroyers, a Hobart . Structurally they are derived from a Spanish frigate Alvaro de Bazan. The ships comprise 30 segments. During commissioning the construction of a new unit, the Australian Ministry of Defence determines the number of segments on each of the four shipyards selected as producers of destroyers. These are the ASC  in Adelaide, Forgács in Newcastle, BAE Systems in Melbourne and the Spanish Navantia.

In reference to the final destroyer, Sydney , selected division, applied for a second ship, Brisbane : 8 segments for the ASC, 15 for Forgács, 2 for BEA Systems, and 5 for Navantii. It was decided to follow this path, because of the experience gained by the plants during the current production.

The structures of the first ship, Hobart , are built with the exception of the Spaniards, and the whole production accounted for the Australian shipyards. But it turned out that BAE Systems, fraught with parallel participation in the construction of a pair of landing ships Canberra, is not able to fulfill the orders on time.

Navantia - like many foreign firms - will also provide systems for onboard equipment. For example, in Spain and the UK formed three blocks of sonar, which will be gradually sent it to Australia. It is planned that the destroyers will enter service between December 2014 and June 2017. The Evidence indicates, however, a significant delay in the order of several months, which may prove not to be done.
