Tests of the New Patriot

Representatives of the U.S. Raytheon announced a successful test the latest version of a set of anti-missile Patriot GEM-T.

The test was conducted at White Sands missile proving ground. It concerned a complete system of the new production series, which contains several new elements. The most important is the missile Guidance Enhanced Missile-Tactical (GEM-T). This modernized version of PAC-2, including with a new igniter and enriched guidance system, which - at least in theory - allows you to attack the objects with very low radar reflecting surface.

Kit has also received several other new devices, including new positions of operators with color display and touch screen. After firing the missile, its head shall also provide the operators in the digital mode, information about their own position. The manufacturer also announced a reworking of the other elements of the system, including a radar station, rocket subassemblies, and parts of a command and data transmission equipment.

The purpose of the test at White Sands Missile Range was a small object moving at low altitude in varied terrain. It has been traced and destroyed. The manufacturer's representative shall ensure that it has verified the positive effect of the whole system of production of new varieties.
