Fifth Longshot

In the area of ​​Mesopotamia began in Poland's largest long-distance competitions in shooting Longshot. The competition involved civilians and soldiers and officers of various services.


In 2012, the shooting near Mesopotamia is now in the fifth edition Longshot competition, which could not be done, if not excellent cooperation with the 17th Mechanised Brigade, whose leadership fully understand the need for this kind of competition shooting, as well as exchange their snipers and snipers with players from all over Europe.


The organizer of the competition is 17th Mechanized Brigade and the City Międzyrzecz, although the founder and moving spirit of the event is Zbigniew Świerczek OSS Delta. The aim of the event, which now come the players from all over Europe, is to promote rifle shooting, and very large distances, the exchange of experiences and integrate the military and sport. The competition will compete alongside civilians from the officers and soldiers - shooters and snipers, often serving in special forces.

Longshot is an event unique relation to the whole of Europe, which emphasize the guests from abroad. Only in Poland can shoot in such conditions at such large distances, lying side by side shooting positions civilians, officers and soldiers on active duty and reserve. The competition began on Friday, April 20 day training at a shooting range next to Mesopotamia and Wojciechowo, Class Super Magnum and Super Magnum Tactical tactical Trzemeszno on the belt. The most important day of the competition is Friday 21 April, filled with shooting from early morning to late afternoon hours, and even the evening, as it did last year. 


Nearly 250 registered players from Austria, Czech Republic, Estonia, France, Holland, Latvia, Lithuania, Polish, Romanian, Germany, Slovakia and Hungary, will be classified individually and team. In each class, waiting for them from 1 to 3 cups and 1 to 6 degrees. In addition, the lottery for all registered sponsors of the contest awards funded include in the form of two Steyr Mannlicher sniper rifles and Savage, 3 Vortex optical sights and Steiner.

While most players are male, at a party in the majority of parading in various camouflage uniforms in the hundreds of possible camouflage, it is judged and compete with them as women of color in the uniforms of the more civil and more women.


Longshot shooters during the competition may compete in classes of hardware: Open, Super Magnum, and introduced this year with the division of Tactical Tactical Standard, Tactical Tactical Magnum and Super Magnum. Open class includes any center fire rifle caliber 5.56 mm (.222) to 11.66 mm (.458) and shooting at distances 300, 600 and 800 m, plus a snapshot of over 1,000 m Class Super Magnum to shoot for targets set at a distance of 1000, 1200 and 1500 meters.

Although competition in Międzyrzecz attract shooters from neighboring countries, it was this year for the first time appeared far as shooters with France and the Netherlands. From this came the first state three reservists, who had insisted that no one in their country does not perform such events as Longshot.
