Indian Defence Ministry plans to launch a tender for 75 multi-role helicopters for the navy. They can cost over $ 4 billion.
This may be the biggest tender for the multi-purpose maritime helicopters in history. Previously, MO wrote to India's largest manufacturers of inquiry about the possibility of providing this type of machines. According to unofficial information, the Indian Navy wants to buy at least 75 helicopters - Naval Multirole Helicopters (NMRH). They can cost over $ 4 billion.
The new helicopters would carry out many tasks - from combat ships and submarines, by supporting special operations, reconnaissance and evacuation, to transport troops and cargo. In India, the tender has been going on for 16 similar machines that are designed to replace the oldest Sea King helicopters (pictured) bought in 1980. Compete in the European NH-90 and the American Sikorsky S-70. The new bid is chosen successors of newer Sea Vikings. Probably will take part in it the same helicopters and their modifications.
