Lockheed Martin in the five-year contract to modernize the 1.05 billion cockpit avionics and equipment in the helicopter MH-60R and MH-60S.
Lockheed Martin announced that it had received orders from the U.S. Navy to supply 224 digital cockpits and mission planning systems and sensors for the MH-60R Seahawk (helicopters ZOP) and MH-60S Knighthawk (transport helicopters / SAR, and in the future also retrofitted for mine action ), together with a package of logistics.
The agreement is a framework. Delivery and modernization of helicopters will be implemented in the years 2012-2016. New sets of equipment will get the machine model 162 R and 62 S. The modernization program model currently used family of rotorcraft MH-60 should be completed in 2018 (now Air Force U.S. Navy has about 300 such helicopters).
The agreement will allow for long-term savings. According to Dan Spoor, vice president of Lockheed Martin Air Systems & Sensor Mission, compared to annual contracts, will provide the framework agreement to reduce costs by more than 10%.
