Patria is using Eurosatory to gauge interest in a new concept turret for its AMV armoured fighting vehicle that it has dubbed the Nemo Plus.
The new version of the turret integrates the Nemo 120mm mortar system with Kongsberg's new Protector Super Lite remote weapon station (RWS). The Super Lite is a fully stabilised light weight RWS that weighs only 30kg. It can be equipped with a 5.56mm or 7.62mm machine gun, with either 900 or 600 rounds respectively.
'It is about adding an additional direct fire capability,' Savenius explained. 'We've shown that we can integrate the RWS and want to get ideas of how to integrate the controls into the vehicle,' Savenius stated. 'It is a very easy change to the protection level of the vehicle.’
There are currently seven customer countries for the AMV and one of these, Slovenia, has taken the option of the Nemo Mortar.
Meanwhile, Patria announced on 12 June that it had entered a framework agreement with Croatia's Duro Dakovic Holding (DDH) to pursue common efforts in the sale of the AMV on a case-by-case basis to selected third countries.
According to the agreement in these cases Patria will be the prime contractor and will also have a significant role in the production of the vehicles. DDH subsidiary DDSV is already roducing the versions of the AMV for the Croatian armed forces, which has ordered 70 of the 8x8 AFVs.
'Patria is pleased with the superior performance of DDSV's serial production and this frame agreement solidifies the continuation of our successful long-term cooperation,' stated Seppo Seppala, president of Patria land systems and services.
'This agreement is the next huge step in our partnership and opening the new markets for the excellent product Patria AMV,' added Vladimir Kovacevic, president of DHH.
