Sikorsky Aircraft announced the immediate transfer of the Swedish armed forces last 2 with a total of 15 helicopters ordered by the Swedish UH-60M (HKP 16).
The contract for the purchase of 15 Black Hawks was concluded in May 2011. Helicopters have been ordered by the Stockholm medical evacuation configuration and SAR. Some machines will be sent to Afghanistan in 2013, in support of the Swedish troops serving as part of ISAF.
Machines stagnant ordered under the Foreign Military Sales. Therefore, the Black Hawks are first delivered to the U.S. Army, where, after the retrofit, they are sent to Sweden.
Draws attention to a very fast pace of delivery of helicopters, leading standard in such cases, the time of production, up to several months. The first UH-60M was given the U.S. Army in September 2011, and thus only 3 months after receipt of the order for the installation of Black Hawks. By the end of the same year there were a total of 8 machines ready.
UH-60M has been ordered by Sweden in response to the protracted introduction to the NHI NH90 helicopter service (HKP 14), which will reach full operational capability until about 2020.
