Elbit Systems Awarded New Cardom Contract

Elbit Systems has received a follow-on contract to an agreement originally signed in September 2011 to supply Cardom artillery systems to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). The contract will be performed over six years, and was part of a number of Israeli Ministry of Defense (IMOD) awards announced by the company on 31 December.

Known in the IDF as Keshet, Cardom integrates a 120mm mortar with innovative fire control, navigation, automatic aiming and propulsion systems. As well as being operational in the IDF, the system is used by various armies in Europe, the US and other countries. The systems have also been deployed in combat zones. 

Udi Vered, general manager of Elbit Systems’ Land and C4I Division, said: ‘This additional IMOD contract attests to the maturity and the quality of the Cardom’s operational performance in the IDF and other armies worldwide. We are witnessing a growing global demand for the supply of advanced artillery systems and we hope that additional customers will select our solutions to address their artillery needs.’
