Thales Deutschland has been contracted to supply the German military with its Sophie XF type long-range, cooled thermal imagers.
The order is for 10 sets, along with logistical support, documentation and training.
The German military already has 100 of the imagers, which they use as a range imager for surveillance, target acquisition and identification.
The value of the order from the Federal Office of Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support wasn't disclosed.
Sophie XF is a hand-held, multi-functional thermal imager with laser range finder, daylight camera and position sensor made up of a GPS receiver and compass.
"We are delighted with this follow-up procurement order, which will provide the user with an innovative, user-friendly device with a wide range of applications", said Holger Brandt, Thales Deutschland's vice president of Defense & Security Systems.
Thales said the units will be delivered in the fall.
