L-3 WESCAM Unveils New Land Vehicle Surveillance System at CANSEC 2013

L-3 WESCAM has introduced its new land vehicle surveillance system (LVSS) at the 2013 CANSEC Defence and Security Trade Show, currently underway at the Ernst & Young Centre in Ottawa, Canada.

Equipped with combat-proven, commercial-off-the-shelf subsystems, MXTM-LVSS is designed to provide troops with precise intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) data on surrounding terrain and enemies during day or night, in all weather conditions.

Based on the company's MX-Series of multi-spectral, highly stabilised imaging systems, the modular and rugged solution features mast-mounted and remote-mounted surveillance suites with an integrated vehicle operator control station.

L-3 WESCAM government sales and business development vice-president Paul Jennison said the MX-LVSS would offer advanced stability technology to ensure agile, responsive and adaptive surveillance by serving as a turnkey ground vehicle ISR solution.

"This greatly expands mission capability in real-world scenarios where the host vehicle is moving," Jennison said. "The system's scalable design supports a full range of surveillance capability and complexity, providing our customers around the world with system-level solutions customised to their precise specifications and budget."

Capable of conducting surveillance missions while the host vehicle is stationary or on-the-move, in either mast-mounted or dismounted configurations, the system's performance can be configured from a basic mid-range surveillance capability to a powerful long-range system with integration of a ground surveillance radar.
The flexibility can also be extended to the host vehicle's interior to support the collection, storage, processing, manipulation, fusion, as well as digital sharing of sensor data and imagery throughout the battlefield to improve situational awareness at all levels.

MXTM-LVSS is also believed to be ideally suited for several platforms, including the forthcoming Canadian Light Armoured Vehicle's (LAV) Recce Surveillance System (LRSS).
