Korean Training Center in Portugal?

South Korea plans to create an international center in Portugal, the military pilot training. It is to be equipped with T-50 aircraft, and directed by Korean instructors.

According to Korean media, referring to the anonymous sources in the government, the country finalizes the preliminary stage of negotiations with Portugal, to establish a pilot training. Interviews are conducted from last year, after selecting Lisbon as the main partner. The letter of intent to this effect may be signed in March.

The idea behind the project is to create a commercial center, based on a training system for Korean Aerospace Industries (KAI), whose core is the supersonic T-50. Instructors would be the center of Korean pilots.

The Government of the Republic of Korea intends to develop the resort $ 267 million over 30 years. The investment should be paid from the proceeds of the pilot training of foreign countries. Seoul also plans to direct his own troops to Portugal, because of increasing restrictions on flight training, the inhabitants of protests arising from the densely populated, the Asian country.

Koreans have since 2009 sought the best location for the center include in the U.S., the Philippines and Spain, however, ultimately choosing Portugal. The prerequisites of such a decision could be relatively low costs and good weather, one of the key factors that facilitate effective aviation training.

Seoul Plans are indirectly related to the Polish situation. Air forces of our country for many years planned to create a similar center in Deblin, based on the new aircraft LIFT.
