A Successful Test Scalp Naval

The French military procurement agency DGA announced yesterday to hold a successful trial July 9  Scalp missile designed to attack ships.


The test was carried out on the range missile in Biscarrosse DGA. This was the third test fire a missile from a vertical launcher Sylver 70 that will be installed on a FREMM frigates (the first took place in May 2010). Now, however, used a complete set that fully maps the system board. According to the assurances of the representatives of the DGA, the attempt was successful.

M Issil de croisière naval (MdCN) - also known by the name of the Scalp Naval earlier - is a naval variant of the MBDA missile air SCAPL / Storm Shadow, which was the result of the Franco-British cooperation. MdCN is the European equivalent of American Tomahawks, at a distance of about a thousand km and a warhead weight of 450 kg.


MdCN to be placed on the decks of the French frigates in 2014. Variety suitable for firing from the torpedo tubes caliber 533 will be delivered to a submarine Barracuda, starting from 2017.
